Transportation

Licking County has a highly developed transportation system that makes travel and shipping efficient
and cost effective. Six modern highways, multiple railways and both large and small airports connect
Licking County with the rest of the world.

We are just 25 minutes east of Columbus along 1-70—the country’s foremost East-West interstate—
or 30 minutes east of Columbus via the newly expanded State Route 161, which puts us just a quick
drive to Port Columbus International Airport and Rickenbacker International Airport. Licking County
also has its own regional public airport, affordable public transportation and a sophisticated railway
system network.

Businesses located in Licking County have access to the country’s rail service network via rail
freight service from CSX Transportation and Norfolk Southern. This service is provided via two
short line freight railroads – Ohio Central Railroad and the Columbus and Ohio River Railroad –
that provide freight rail service throughout Licking County. Each short line railroad interchanges
with CSX Transportation and Norfolk Southern, as well as the Ohio Southern Railroad.
