2024 Year in Review
In 2024, Licking County saw continued growth in manufacturing and data centers. With the location of several new companies and the expansion of existing companies, we expect to continue the momentum in 2025.
CyrusOne announced plans to locate a data center in New Albany. The total project investment is $150 million with $1.5 million in new payroll.
In October, Microsoft announced the first phase of a major investment plan from Microsoft to establish three new data center campuses in the Columbus Region, with an initial $1 billion investment for facilities in New Albany, Heath, and Hebron.
Also in October, Vantage Data Centers broke ground on a facility in New Albany. Over $2 billion will be invested in the project, with more than 1,500 individuals employed across the construction and long-term operations of the campus.
Owens Corning announced plans to expand its research and development center in Granville Township. This expansion project will retain 412 jobs.
In November, Cologix announced plans to develop a new, AI-ready data center campus in Johnstown. The total investment for this project is over $7 billion.
In December, German window manufacturer Gelean chose to locate its U.S. operations in Heath. This $1.2 million investment includes a state-of-the-art facility that will create 27 new jobs with an average annual payroll of $2.16 million.
In 2024, GROW Licking County responded to 79 project leads which led to 7 company site visits. The median investment for these leads was $200 million with 205 median jobs created. Over 80% of these leads were related to manufacturing and its sub-industries.
