2022 Year in Review

In 2022, Licking County was awarded the largest economic development deal in Ohio’s history with the announcement of Intel Corporation’s new semiconductor fabrication site in New Albany. In addition to the generational opportunity resulting from this project, the groundwork laid for manufacturing success in Licking County continues to reap benefits across sub-industries. From paint production, to dairy product manufacturing, to one of the largest advanced recycling facilities in the world, Licking County saw several expansion and attraction announcements in 2022.

Most job growth in a community comes from the expansion of its existing business. Atkore announced an expansion of its advanced manufacturing facility in Hebron in early 2022.

In June 2022, Kroger announced a $70 million expansion at Newark's Tamarack Farms Dairy. Tamarack Farms Dairy is the largest fluid dairy producer in Ohio, supplying approximately 160 Kroger stores. Tamarack Farms was built in 1978 and has been a significant contributor to the job market in Licking County and to the dairy farmers of Ohio. Their investment into their existing Newark facility includes a 35,000-square-foot expansion which will allow for a state-of-the-art aseptic milk line.

We also saw several new businesses move into Licking County, including Pharmavite in New Albany, and Prudential Cleanroom Services and Behr in Heath. In December, Freepoint Eco-Systems broke ground on an advanced recycling facility in Hebron. The facility is expected to create 200 construction jobs in 2023, as well as 70 full-time jobs once the facility is operational. This facility will be one of the largest advanced recycling facilities in the world and will recycle end-of-life waste plastic otherwise destined for landfills or incineration.
